Goddess Yamina was close to her brother Lord Yamraj, according to Hindu scriptures.
She was overjoyed when her brother came to see her on the second day after Diwali, and she prepared a delicious supper for him.
Lord Yamraj was moved by her kindness, and Goddess Yamuna requested that he pay her a visit every year, around the time of Diwali.
Goddess Yamuna wished him health and happiness by applying a Tilak to his forehead. She claimed that any man whose sister applies tilak to her brother’s forehead is safe from Lord Yamraj.
