With a final round score of 280, DeChambeau became the first student at SMU to ever win the NCAA individual title in 2015. Not long after that, he won the US Amateur title, solidifying his place in history even more. Consequently, DeChambeau joined the ranks of Ryan Moore, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Jack Nicklaus as the fifth player in history to win the US Amateur and NCAA championships in different years.
