Veteran Telugu Actor Chandra Mohan Dies at 80
On November 11, 2011, seasoned Telugu actor Chandra Mohan succumbed to cardiac arrest at the Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad. Reportedly, the actor had been undergoing treatments pertaining to the heart. Two daughters and a spouse survive him in death. The Telugu film industry was saddened by the veteran actor’s passing.
Jr. NTR, an actor who appeared in RRR, paid homage to the deceased actor, lamented his untimely demise, and extended condolences to his family. “It is extremely sad to learn of the untimely demise of Chandramohan Garu, who has amassed acclaim for decades through his diverse film roles,” he wrote in a post on X. His family has my sincerest condolences; may his soul eternally rest in serenity.”

Who was Chandra Mohan?
Chandra Mohan, who was born Mallampalli Chandrasekhara Rao in Pamidimukkala village, Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, on May 23, 1943, made his film début in Rangula Ratnam (1966), directed by BN Reddy. Over the course of his illustrious 51-year career, Mohan appeared in 932 films, garnering two Nandi Awards–Best Male Comedian for Chandamama Raave (1987) and Best Character Actor for Athanokkade (2005)–and one Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu for Padaharella Vayasu (1978). His last film appearance was in Oxygen (2017), directed by AM Jyothi Krishna.
