A seven-day festival honouring God Datta is held at shrines like Manik Prabhu. Beginning on Ekadashi and lasting till Purnima, it is a huge celebration. Additionally, reciting the Shri Gurucharitra is a significant tradition that officially kicks off the celebrations seven days before the Jayanti. The eve of Datta Jayanti occurs on a Full Moon day (Purnima) in the month of Margashirsha, according to the Hindu calendar.

Datta Jayanti Puja Vidhi & Fasting
- The process of keeping a fast for Datta Jayanti must be carried out by the devotees before sunrise, after which they must take a holy bath.
- The devotees must present sweets, incense sticks, flowers, and lamps during the puja.
- Sacred mantras, holy melodies, and passages from the Avadhuta and Jivanmukta Gita must all be recited by devotees.
- When performing puja, coat the statue of the Datta God with sandalwood paste, turmeric powder, and vermilion.
- Devotees must recite mantras like “Om Shri Gurudev Datta” and “Sree guru dattatreyaya namah” for the purification and enlightenment of the soul and mind.
