After being dealt to the Lakers in early 1993, Christie didn’t make his NBA debut until March of that year. Even though his name was misspelled, he played his first game in a jersey that read “Chrisite.” He played in 65 games in 1993–94 and 23 games to end the 1992–93 season, although the Lakers rarely employed him.

The Lakers sent Christie to the Knicks in a 1994 trade. Nonetheless, he saw little action once again, making only 12 appearances in 1994–95 and 23 in 1995–96.

The Sacramento Kings acquired Christie during the 2000 summer trade deadline. His reputation as a premier league defender preceded his meteoric rise to stardom as the team’s starting shooting guard. From 2001 to 2004, Christie was a key cog in the Kings’ defensive machine, which propelled them to the NBA Finals four years in a row. As the league’s best team in 2001–02, the Kings advanced all the way to the conference finals.

In 2005, the Orlando Magic acquired Christie in a trade. He was unhappy with the trade and missed time due to bone spurs, thus he didn’t get much playing time with the squad. The Magic waived Christie on August 11, 2005, following his ankle surgery.

The Dallas Mavericks signed Christie to a one-year deal after the Magic released him. But he only participated in seven games before the club dismissed him in late 2005 owing to his ankle concerns.

Christie tried to make a return in early 2007 after sitting out all of 2006 by signing a 10-day deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. But after only seven games, he decided he had had enough and left the team, thereby terminating his career as an NBA player.
