Career

Newacheck received her degree in editing from The Los Angeles Film School in 2004. She was born and raised in Concord, California. He had a stint teaching editing at his alma university before he, Blake Anderson, Adam DeVine, and Anders Holm formed Mail Order Comedy in 2006.

Newacheck got his start in the comic industry with Mail Order comic, where he wrote, directed, and edited short films like “Crossbows and Moustaches” that ran on Myspace. Workaholics, a seven-season Comedy Central sitcom that Newacheck co-created in 2011, followed the lives of three drug dealer-affiliated slackers. Karl Hevacheck, a drug dealer, is played by Newacheck in the series.

About half of the Workaholics episodes were also directed by Newacheck. He went on to direct comedic episodes for other TV shows, including Happy Endings, Community, Parks and Recreation, and others. He is currently attached to direct a TV movie that has not been named yet, written by Robert Padnick and Greg Daniels.

While working on Adam DeVine’s House Party, Newacheck teamed up with his Mail Order Comedy collaborator DeVine. On occasion, Newacheck even stars alongside her co-creator and director roles.

Along with his brother Adam, he directed the 2014 music video for “The Worst Guys” by Childish Gambino.

The news broke in June 2016 that Seth Rogen was producing a film starring Devine, Anderson, Holm, and Newacheck. Game Over, Man! made its 2018 Netflix debut.

He has been involved with the production and direction of the What We Do in the Shadows FX series since 2019.
