He upset Hall of Famer Allen Iverson for the high school single-season scoring record. In 25 games, five less than the 76ers legend, he topped Iverson’s 948-point total.
Additionally, McClung scored more points in a championship game than JJ Redick had ever scored before. The 80-65 victory over Robert E. Lee High of Staunton was the result of the young prodigy’s 47 points.
McClung switched his commitment to Georgetown from Rutgers after he had already committed to the former.
