Mandaikadu Temple | Mandaikadu Bhagavathi Amman Temple
The Mandaikadu Bhagavathi Amman Temple, located near Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu, is a prominent temple dedicated to Mother Goddess Shakthi. Bhagavathi Amman is a 15-foot-tall anthill that is worshipped. The anthill has five heads and is continually growing, according to legend. The anthill has reached a height of 12 feet.
According to legend, the Mandaikadu Bhagavathi Amman Murti sits where Adi Shankaracharya did puja to a Sri Chakra.
At the top of the anthill, the face of Bhagavati Amman’s murti may be seen. In the sanctum sanctorum, there is also a Sri Chakra. The temple is constructed in the Kerala temple building style.
Major Offering in the Temple
Silk garments and mangalsutra are presented to the Goddess in exchange for an early and happy marriage. Those with issues with their hands, legs, or other body parts may get silver body parts. Mandaiappam, a rice flour and jaggery sweet, is offered to those suffering from headaches and other head disorders. Cradles are offered by couples who do not have children. People who feel they are suffering as a consequence of the evil eye or the actions of others do Vedi Vazhipadu, or temple cracker lighting. Eat monsooru is another ceremony in which worshippers place Prasadam received from the temple on the floor and eat it.
