Nakshatra Gana: What are the 3 Ganas in Astrology?
Ganas is all about the energy of one of the three worlds or lokas: Swarga, Mrityu, and Prithvi. Swarga is heaven, Prithvi is Earth, and Mrityu Loka is hell. Swarga is where God resides, Prithvi is the abode of human beings, and Mrityu Loka is where the rakshasas or demons reside. There are a total of 27 nakshatras and they belong to these three lokas/classes. Each of these classes consists of nine nakshatras.

Types of Gana in Astrology
There are three types of ganas in Hindu astrology. These three include dev Gana (divine power), rakshasa Gana (demonic), and manushya Gana (human).
The ganas are controlled by the situation or presence of the Moon in the birth chart of a person. Astrologically speaking, each of these ganas is significant because the nature and personality of the natives are based on the ganas they have in their birth charts.
Gana Characteristics in Astrology
One can understand the nature of the person based on their gana. Let’s take a look at the three ganas:
- Dev Gana Characteristics – The nature of Dev Gana is generous, kind, and humble. As per Dev Gana features, the person will have a good temperament. These people will follow culture and traditions. They will also appreciate the good traits of other people. One will never find these people being envious of somebody else’s success and happiness.
- Manushya Gana: These natives have a human nature. Manushya Gana means the person will have mixed qualities. Sometimes they will be kind, and other times they will be vindictive. There is a hint of creativity and religiousness in these people.
- Rakshasa Gana: This gana showcases the dark side of human beings. Anybody belonging to Rakshasa Gana phala would be rigid and stubborn. These people might pick fights over minor issues and it can be difficult to deal with them. However, this does not make them all bad. These people will also have exceptional intuitive power.
