List of Puja Items required for Shradh Ritual
In Hinduism, the Shradh ceremony honours deceased ancestors. For the majority of Hindus, it is a significant yearly ritual.
The puja items used in the Shradh ceremony are listed below.
- Banana leaf
- Copperplate
- Cooked rice
- Darbha or Kusha grass – ring of darbha and the grass spread as seating
- Bhringaraj leaves
- Tulsi leaves
- Black sesame or til
- Til mixed with water
- Uncooked rice or barley
- Honey
- Black Gram
- White flowers (red flowers are not used in Shradh)
- Sandalwood paste
- Betel nut and leaf
In certain areas, individuals prepare the deceased’s favourite foods.
