Upon relocating to New York City, Stine started penning articles for Scholastic’s student publications. He later went on to pen a plethora of children’s comedy books and joke books titled Jovial Bob Stine. He was the editor and primary writer for the comedic magazine “Bananas,” which appeared from 1975 to 1984. After penning his debut horror novel, “Blind Date,” in 1986, R.L. went on to pen over a hundred books in the “Fear Street” series, beginning with “The New Girl,” three years later.
He was the chief writer and co-creator of the Nickelodeon series “Eureeka’s Castle,” which ran from 1989 to 1995. The first book in the “Goosebumps” series was published in 1992, and from 1995 to 1998, Fox Kids and YTV broadcast television shows adapted on the books.
