Diver and cross-country runner Sally was a phenomenal athlete. She decided to follow her passion of becoming a health membership teacher and eventually enrolled at a college in Pennsylvania.
Sally followed in her brother’s and uncle’s footsteps by dropping out of school with only one semester remaining, and joining the Marine Corps, due to a lack of funds. The experience of protecting oneself led her to enlist in the United States Marine Corps.

Following an appeal by the State of California to the US Supreme Court, the decision of the 9th Circuit was reversed, and the matter was remanded there for additional proceedings. Based on the Supreme Court’s ruling, they gave the matter another look and delivered an opinion in 2005.
