Know the Sheetala Mata Puja Vidhi: How to do or perform Goddess Sitala Mata Puja on Sheetala Ashtami?
Sheetala Mata Puja is performed on Krishna Paksha Ashtami, the eighth day of the Hindu lunar calendar’s waning phase. On Chaitra Sheetala Ashtami, the most prominent puja is done.
In this article, we would explain the Sheetala Mata Puja Vidhi.
Items need for Sheetala Mata Puja
- A picture or murti (idol) of Goddess Sheetala Mata or a good stone (representing Goddess Sitala) and another small stone (representing Jvareshvara)
- A Red cloth
- Usual items for aarti
- Flowers
- Kum kum
- Water
- Yoghurt
- Wheat
- Red thread
- Henna
- Food prepared on the previous day.
How to do or perform Sitala Mata Puja?
- Get a picture or murti (idol) of Goddess Sheetala Mata or a good stone.
- Place another stone under a tree or in the puja room.
- The picture or stone or idol is then installed on a red cloth
- Now apply the Kumkum on the murti or the stone.
- Offer Flowers to the Goddess Sheetala Mata
- Now offer Wheat, Yoghurt and hena to Goddess Sheetala Mata
- Now offer Moli or red thread to the Goddess Sheetala Mata
- After the offerings, now worship the murti by chanting an aarti, dedicated to the Goddess Sheetala Mata
- As a prasadam, offer the food prepared on the previous day to the Goddess and then distribute it to people as prasadam from Goddess Sheetala Mata
