History of Chahhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti
Approximately 1630, Shivaji was born in Pune, Maharashtra. Although experts debate on his year and date of birth, the Government of Maharashtra consistently observes this holiday on February 19 regardless.
Shivaji was born a natural leader and warrior; he captured forts as a youth.
Shivaji carved out an enclave from the waning Adilshahi sultanate of Bijapur, which was the origin of the Maratha Empire, at a period of significant political instability in the region. He was officially crowned Chhatrapati in 1674. (emperor).
Shivaji resurrected traditional Hindu political customs and court conventions and advocated the use of Marathi and Sanskrit instead of Persian in administration and court.
He was noted for his civil administration, as well as his bravery and military strategies, which he used to win multiple wars against the Mughals.
