Tammy Slaton Weight Loss – Know Her Unbelievable Weight Loss Journey

Article Rating 4.1/5

Tammy Slaton, known for the reality show 1000-lb Sisters has seen many ups and downs in her weight loss journey. For those who are unfamiliar with the programme, it follows Tammy and her sister Amy Slayton as they struggle with extreme obesity and go through different phases of trying to get in shape. Particularly Tammy has experienced several difficult health issues.

However, her amazing weight loss progress and her dedication to leading a healthier lifestyle have thrilled her followers today. The 37-year-old just shared pictures of her impressive 180-pound weight loss on Instagram, which she achieved after having gastric bypass surgery in the summer of 2022. (She had already lost 183 pounds before that, for a total reduction of 363 pounds.) Here, we examine Tammy’s path and witness her amazing development.

Tammy Slaton Weight Loss Journey

Over the past few years, Tammy has faced several difficulties and heartaches that have accompanied her weight loss achievement. With a starting weight of 406 pounds, Amy, Tammy’s sister, was eligible for weight-loss surgery, as was disclosed in the first season premiere of 1000-Lb. Sisters. But Tammy was not eligible.

Tammy Slaton checked herself into a food addiction treatment centre in 2021, but she departed sooner than expected. She was admitted to the hospital, placed on a ventilator, and placed into a medically-induced coma as her condition deteriorated a day later. After a three-week stay, Tammy lost 115 pounds during a 30-day rehab programme.

But even as Tammy recovered, health concerns persisted. In 2022, she was admitted to the hospital once more and had a tracheotomy. It was then disclosed that she weighed 717 pounds at her heaviest.

Nevertheless, a February 2023 episode of the reality show happily revealed that Tammy was finally under the 550-pound mark, which qualified her for gastric bypass surgery, following her third re-entry into a food addiction recovery centre. She was startled to find that she had lost weight, going from 717 pounds to 534.7 pounds, and that was just the start.

Tammy Slaton’s Bariatric Surgery

Tammy finally had her long-awaited bariatric surgery in the summer of 2022, which started her on the road to recovery. As of right now, Tammy has lost almost 360 pounds from her highest weight, 180 of which were lost following her gastric bypass. She can now walk normally and is no longer dependent on oxygen during the day.

In a June 2023 interview with PEOPLE, Tammy stated, “I was able to make my lungs strong enough to get my trach [tracheostomy tube for breathing] out, and then recently the doctor cleared me to be off my oxygen machine during the daytime.” Although she still uses her BiPap machine and oxygen at night, her overall growth has made her feel grateful for her life. She goes on, “I’m feeling happy, pleased, excited—just all the feelings—because I proved everyone else incorrect. I have finally received mine, everyone who doubted me! “My moment to tell you so!”

Managing Loss and Grief

In July 2023, Tammy Slaton’s husband Caleb Willingham went away, causing her to experience personal sadness despite her happy achievement with weight loss and physical health recovery. In 2022, the pair met in recovery and were married shortly after.

Tammy was open and honest with UsWeekly about their connection before he passed away, saying, “We support each other wholeheartedly.” When he comes to me during our weight loss travels, we discuss the circumstances when he can’t stop eating because he’s bored or an emotional eater. “It’s the same for me and I talk to him,” Tammy went on. We discuss our problems and the reasons behind our emotions. We truly are a partnership.
