Ram Vivah Panchami Celebrations
In practically all of India’s areas, Ram-Sita temples host Vivah Panchami celebrations. The most reverent and opulent ceremonies, however, can be found in Janakpur, Nepal, the birthplace of Goddess Sita, as well as in Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama. Temples are illuminated and decorated with lamps on this auspicious day. The social event is known as “Ram Vivah Utsav,” and it involves a divine wedding ritual in which the sculptures or idols of deities are exquisitely decorated with jewels and clothing.
In adoration of the gods, devotees chant heavenly mantras and perform sacred hymns (bhajan). At various locations, a creative production known as “Ramleela” that tells the Ram Sita Vivah narrative is performed. The priest then conducts Vivah Panchami Puja, and Lord Ram’s aarti brings the celebrations to a close.
Significance of Sita Swayamvar on Vivah Panchami
Vivah Panchami is a significant holiday because it is revered in Hindu mythology and religion as an auspicious and sacred day. According to popular belief, Lord Rama is an avatar of Lord Vishnu who went to Janakpurdham in Nepal and the Swayamvar of Goddess Sita, destroyed Lord Shiva’s bow (Dhanush), and wed Goddess Sita. Numerous pilgrims travel from all across India and other nations to this location to participate in the great rituals honouring the heavenly wedding rite.
