Who Is Ambika Mod?
The 29-year-old actress Ambika has a stellar reputation for her stand-up comedy and her portrayal of Shruti Acharya on BBC’s This Is Going to Hurt. The British actress has appeared in a number of short films, including Pet Name and The Sacrifice (also known as Leila Margot). She has also landed small TV roles on occasion, such as in Trying, The Mash Report, and I Hate Suzie.
However, playing Emma in One Day was her most prestigious acting performance thus far. Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew’s slow-burn affair, which stretches over decades, is chronicled in One Day, based on David Nicholls’ 2009 best-selling novel. An earlier 2011 film based on the novel featured Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess in the major roles of the love leads.
The miniseries, which debuted on February 8, 2024, with 14 episodes, was talked about by Ambika in an interview with Netflix Tudum. “I think that’s what’s heartbreaking about the book — it’s this juxtaposition of these two wide-eyed students and their dreams for their future, and then how things actually turn out,” she said.
