On Sunday in southern Indiana, the Indiana State Police detained Rajon Rondo, a two-time NBA champion, in connection with probable cause for misdemeanor drug and handgun offenses.

The press release states that a state trooper smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. Subsequently, agents found the firearm, drug paraphernalia, and what seemed to be marijuana. Promptly released after posting bond, the four-time All-Star was sent to the Jackson County Jail. A juvenile passenger in Rondo’s vehicle was released to a family member.
The initial court appearance for Rondo has been scheduled for February 27 by the Jackson County Superior Court. Rondo was prohibited from having a firearm due to a court order prohibiting physical contact that was granted in August. This was the second line of defense he had been granted.
In 2022, a woman from Louisville asserted that Rondo became enraged and threatened her life, leading to the issuance of the first order. A mental health evaluation, anger management courses, and counseling were all things the woman asked the judge to order Rondo to do.
