Steve Perry, “Rick E. Bobby,” and “Stereo: A Hip Hop Tribute to Classic Rock.” “Arena Rap,” Yelawolf’s debut EP, followed them.

Yelawolf hit it big in 2010 with his mixtape “Trunk Muzik.” After signing with Interscope Records later that year, he re-released the mixtape under the EP name “Trunk Muzik 0-60.” After signing with Eminem’s Shady Records in 2011 and releasing his first studio album, “Radioactive,” Yelawolf’s meteoric rise to fame continued. The album was well-received by critics and opened with the songs “Hard White (Up in the Club)” and “Let’s Roll.” It debuted at number thirteen on the Billboard 200.

After the success of “Radioactive,” Yelawolf released the mixtape “Heart of Dixie” in 2012 for free download. He followed that up the following year with the digitally-distributed mixtape “Trunk Muzik Returns,” which featured guest performances from musicians including ASAP Rocky, Raekwon, and Killer Mike. A preview of Yelawolf’s third studio album, “Love Story,” was dropped in 2014 with the tune “Box Chevy V.” With its delayed April 2015 release, the album became Yelawolf’s most commercially successful work to date, debuting at #3 on the Billboard 200. In addition, “Best Friend,” which features Eminem, and “Till It’s Gone” each have over 100 million views on YouTube. The 2016 EP “Hotel” was Yelawolf’s subsequent release.

The 2017 release of Yelawolf’s fourth studio album, “Trial by Fire,” came after the artist reportedly had a mental breakdown and spent some time in a mental institution. Some of the album’s singles include “Daylight,” “Shadows,” “Row Your Boat,” and “Punk.” Yelawolf dropped “Trunk Muzik III,” the third key instalment of the “Trunk Muzik” series, two years down the road.

Joining him on his most recent album, “Trunk Muzik III” (published on Eminem’s label), are artists like as Machine Gun Kelly, MopTop, Big Henri, and DJ Klever. Following its debut on Yelawolf’s independent label Slumerican, “Ghetto Cowboy” was accompanied by the singles “Unnatural Born Killer” and “Opie Taylor.” In 2021, he released “Mud Mouth,” his subsequent studio album.

Some of Yelawolf’s favorite artists and bands are CL Smooth, Pete Rock, Black Star, Outkast, and Dungeon Family. In addition to Black Sabbath and Johnny Cash, he has named Fleetwood Mac, the Doors, Portishead, and N.W.A. as influential musicians that helped shape his sound and approach.
